Big News from ClimatePlan

We’re writing to share some bittersweet news. After eight years with ClimatePlan, ClimatePlan’s Director Carey Knecht will be moving on to join the California Air Resources Board as an Air Pollution Specialist with their Sustainable Communities program. Her last day will be September 11.

We will miss Carey. Under her leadership, ClimatePlan has continued to expand its track record of great work. We have secured many key policy wins at both the regional and statewide levels, including strong Sustainable Communities Strategies, more ambitious proposed regional greenhouse gas reduction targets under SB 375, and new statewide funding for sustainable communities. We are grateful for Carey’s leadership and commitment, which has helped foster more sustainable, healthy, and equitable regions.

Please join us in thanking Carey for her leadership and dedication to ClimatePlan. We greatly appreciate all that she has done.

We are also excited to say that it was easy selecting our new director – ClimatePlan’s current Associate Director Chanell Fletcher. Chanell brings deep knowledge of the ClimatePlan network from her seven years with the organization. She also brings strong policy expertise and great leadership for ClimatePlan’s network of partners. We are confident that Chanell will lead us into an exciting new chapter.

With Chanell at the helm we are poised to begin a new chapter of this work that allows for ClimatePlan to build on our current successes and explore new opportunities to ensure all Californians live in sustainable, equitable communities that protect our natural and working lands and promote healthy, active lifestyles. If you have questions or comments regarding this transition, we encourage you to reach out to Steering Committee member Stuart Cohen (stuart-at-transformca.org).

Sincerely,

ClimatePlan Steering Committee
