ClimatePlan is excited to join the Coalition for Clean Air and partners across California in celebrating Clean Air Day! With our statewide focus on the intersection of climate, public health, and equity, ClimatePlan's commitment to clean air is as intrinsic as the air we breathe.
Beyond the policies and solutions we work to advance, preserving clean air is part of our daily operations. With our staff made up of a team distributed across the state's regions, ClimatePlan has been working primarily remotely and saving transportation emissions long before it became necessary because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Keep reading for more about how each of our team members interact with clean air and the environment around us!Read more
The Coalition for Clean Air is a California-based nonprofit working to protect public health, improve air quality and prevent climate change. In the last 50 years, they have successfully sponsored the California Clean Cars law, established Smog Check for trucks, and passed legislation to invest billions of dollars of funding for reducing pollution and providing services and jobs in disadvantaged communities. Over the last year there have been many changes at ClimatePlan. While operating with a decreased capacity, ClimatePlan has been able to continue advocating for equitable climate solutions that protect our health, communities, and environment. On the other hand, we have been spreading ourselves thin to get it done. That makes this announcement so exciting - the ClimatePlan team has doubled in size!
Stay tuned for more updates on how the ClimatePlan team will be dividing the work. In the meantime feel free to reach out and say hello.

As I sit down to write this my two-year-old son, Naeem, is playing in the backyard. It is hands down his favorite place to be. While the recent fires make air quality less than ideal, his south Sacramento-born and bred lungs are used to less than ideal air quality. Albeit, he could care less about pollution because he’s two and this is the most important part of Naeem’s day. He waters our lawn, plays in the mud, and runs back and forth until he’s exhausted. Sometimes between sprints, he stops and lifts his head up, looks directly at the sun, and roars. That little roar, from that free Black boy body, is why I care so deeply about climate and environmental justice. Making sure that he stays safe, healthy, and free in this world is the second thing (coffee being the first) that gets me out of bed.Read more

Many of you have already worked with Nailah in her current role as State Policy Manager and experienced firsthand her ability to weave together the necessary threads to build and mobilize an effective coalition for change.Read more
